Of the 708 registrants for AmuwoGames 2023, a commendable 12% were females, reflecting a positive shift towards greater representation in the sporting arena.
This weekend marked a significant milestone as female athletes made their mark on the medals table. Feyiyemi Olowoselu, a 14-year-old prodigy from the Mile 2 Hawks, emerged as a double gold medalist in the junior category of the Nirvana Water Cycling Tournament and the 100m Women’s Dash. Olowoselu’s triumph exemplifies the exceptional talent and determination of young women in sports.
In the Draughts tournament, Rumaysoh Bello, representing the Festac Elephants, displayed her strategic prowess, securing a third position and claiming a well-deserved Bronze medal. Bello’s achievement underscores the resilience and skill of female athletes in traditionally male-dominated sports.
