Last weekend, which was Day 3 and 4, the AmuwoGames2019 kicked into high gear. Games were held across all designated venues within the local government, as expected. Other new games, such as volleyball, chess, and scrabble, were also started last weekend as participants were seen playing one or the other. Dignitaries, spectators, and fans flocked to these venues to cheer on their favorite teams.

When one of the participants, Master Umar Bello, whose father is an architect, won the Olatokunbo Foundation Chess tournament in the under 13 category, the event took on a new dimension. To the surprise of his father and the spectators who gathered around him, he was awarded a one-year school tuition scholarship by Olatokunbo Foundation, one of the corporate sponsors of this year’s game edition. The proud father of the TVC Communications sponsored team’s chess genius, Festac Bulls, was full of life as he expressed gratitude to the foundation and the organizers of the AmuwoGames for the initiative and kind gestures.

The games will continue as planned this weekend across all selected venues. Fans are expected to come out and support their teams while also behaving responsibly. As expected, maximum security and Medicare will be maintained. Cycling, 100m dash, and other new games are set to begin this weekend.
