Despite their exit from the football competition on the first day of the games, the host team Mile 2 Lions came from behind to win the overall champion’s title, with 9 Gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 8 Bronze medals, while the Festac Sharks, who beat them at the start, ended up as football category Champions after defeating another strong Mile 2 team – Mile 2 Hawks in the football.

The closing ceremony was colorful, lasting late into the evening, and was attended by dignitaries and representatives from the Lagos State Sports Commission and the Amuwo Odofin Local Government. Lafup the comedian, Sheun Natural of KMR, Run Jozzy, and others were also in attendance.

Mr. Oluwaseun Ayeni, Chief Organizer of the AmuwoGames and Founder of BizzyBody NG, described the AmuwoGames as a trailblazing and historic event, the first of its kind in Nigeria, in his closing remarks, and encouraged people to take a cue and replicate this type of grassroot community sports initiative throughout their localities.

For our part, we will gladly consult with local governments across Nigeria to replicate this type of sporting event. Our goal is to replicate this novel initiative across Nigeria and see its objectives and vision – communal unity, talent discovery, sportsmanship, and youth development – come to life in these locations. The AmuwoGames will be held on an annual basis, and more versions included in the road-map will be implemented as time goes on, according to Him.

Athletes from all genders, many Nigerian tribes, young and old ranging in age from 7 to 45 years, and people from various walks of life participated in the AmuwoGames.
